Antonio Valencia scored four minutes from time as Manchester United‘s injury-hit team maintained their 100 per cent record in this season’s Champions League with a deserved victory in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, the venue for their 2008 final triumph over Chelsea.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side dominated the second half before finally finding the net, with substitute Michael Owen guilty of a glaring miss 14 minutes from time and Valencia crashing a shot against the crossbar in the closing stages before finally hitting the target.
Considering United side were without Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Darren Fletcher and Patrice Evra among others, the visitors will be delighted with a victory which cements their place at the top of Group B.
